Becoming a resident
Prospective residents -- both buyers and renters -- participate in a structured learning process before deciding to live at EcoVillage. The goal of the process is to provide prospective residents with enough personalized information to decide for themselves whether EcoVillage is the right place for them.
The first steps in the learning process are:
The VC will set up a tour for you and ask that you read certain materials which you will be given. After you have completed these activities, you will be asked to contact someone from the Membership Committee (and will be given contact details) to set up a Preliminary Meeting.
The Membership Committee representative will briefly go over the materials you have read, review the Checklist for Membership Education Process and assist you with participation in the requisite meetings and work teams.
After you have completed the Checklist, you will have an Orientation Meeting with a representative of the Membership Committee. At this meeting you will be asked to sign an agreement to abide by all previous and future consensus decisions, and your name will be added to the Prospective Buyers list, if applicable.
Once you have signed a Purchase Contract for your house, the Membership Committee will organize a Neighborhood Meet 'n' Greet. You will be assigned a 'Buddy' who will give you a Welcome Packet.
And once you've moved in, there will of course be a village-wide Welcome Party!
