House for Rent in Tree – 322 Rachel Carson Trail

Seeking non-smoking, responsible, tidy renter(s) for a beautiful new (2014) three-bedroom home, approximately 1300 square feet, in the co-housing community EcoVillage at Ithaca’s third neighborhood, “TREE.” The house is available from September 12, 2017 to the end of June 2018.

The house:
This beautiful, light-filled, LEED-platinum-certified home is one side of a duplex, with open kitchen, dining, and living space on the first floor, along with a half bath and storage; and three bedrooms and full bath on the second floor. The downstairs floor is polished concrete, and the stairs and upstairs floors are hardwood, with tile in the bathrooms. The cabinetry in the kitchen and baths is hickory, and the kitchen counter-tops are sealed butcher block.

The layout of the kitchen is excellent. A large island holds the oversized sink and the dishwasher on the “working” side, as well as seating space on the non-working side. Behind the island is a row of counters and cabinets, with the induction range and oven in the middle and the refrigerator at the end. All the appliances are energy-efficient, with a stainless steel finish. Hot water comes from the solar panels on the roof.
This home is just steps away from the TREE common house, with shared laundry facilities, a commercial kitchen, dining area, kids’ play room, and social space.
$1400/month rent includes all utilities, high-speed internet, and covered carport parking. In addition, all residents contribute 2 hours per week of work in the community. (See below.)
Rent can be negotiated if you are willing to share the house with the owner on the infrequent occasions when I can visit. Let’s talk!

About Ecovillage at Ithaca:
A wonderful place to live, whether you’re single or partnered, with kids (especially great!) or without, old or young. Three neighborhoods totaling 100 households, on 175 acres of land, with two swimming ponds, walking trails, lots of kid play areas both indoors & outdoors, and even a sauna! There’s gardening space, a vegetable CSA, a u-pick berry farm, a woodworking shop, and volunteer-run optional community meals every week. Many other amenities–and lots of neighborliness. It’s a mix of plenty of privacy, along with the opportunity to connect with people when you want to. We’re surrounded by nature, but only minutes away from downtown Ithaca.

EcoVillage is a self-governing housing co-op. All residents must complete EcoVillage education requirements and agree to EcoVillage membership expectations, including contributing a minimum of 2 hours/week to community work. Renters are encouraged to attend monthly neighborhood meetings. All residents are expected to abide by the decisions of the co-op, much like any other housing complex.
