Living Here

2016 Net Zero participants

Hello!  Welcome to the Living Here section of the EVI website. This section is designed to guide people who are considering living at EVI.

Anyone can live at EVI–it’s up to you! All rental and sales arrangements are made directly with the particular lessee or seller at EVI and an up-to-date listing of all available rentals and sales is on the Sales and Rentals page.

In order to be eligible to enter into a rental or sales agreement, you must complete our membership process and make an informed decision about living here. Completing the process is not a commitment to live here; it simply makes you eligible to rent or buy at EVI.

The cornerstone of the membership process is a 5-day visit to EVI.  This visit is up to you to arrange, and you may arrange it for any consecutive 5-day period that is convenient for you. There are AirBnBs at EVI (these are listed on the Livelihoods page), but you do not have to stay on-site. The in-person requirements of the membership process can be fulfilled during this period. Those requirements include work parties, social events, and an official tour.

Free public tours are conducted by EVI on the last Saturday of each month (except December) from 3-5 PM leaving from the Frog common house.  If your 5-day stay encompasses one of those days, you can simply go on the tour on that day (the membership committee will sign you up for the tour after you have scheduled your stay). If your stay does not encompass the last Saturday of the month, you can to arrange a private tour of EVI. For the fee structure and to request a private tour go to: https://www.thriveithaca.org/contact-1. Please allow two weeks’ notice for scheduling.

If you are ready to pursue the membership process to become eligible for rentals or sales at EVI, please follow the steps below and thanks for your interest in EVI!
